The old West End Games Star Wars miniature line was quite large and varied
but it suffered from one major problem. Most of the miniatures were
characters from the movies and not very useful as player character miniatures.
Still they did have important things that Wizards of the Cost overlooked
like Storm Troopers.
Compared to most current lines the West End Games Star Wars line is
on the small size. They are 25mm where as most lines including the
Wizards of the Cost lines are 28-30mm. I don't consider this to be
a big problem most of the time but some of the West End Games minis were
very under sized even for 25mm. Their Imperial Scout Troopers are
midgets. I'm going to turn the one I have into a Sullustain bounty
hunter.
If you are lucky enough to come across some of the Dark Stryder West
End Games minis, you will find that they are closer in size to current
standards. They are also PC minis. The Dark Stryder minis were
some of the last minis West End games produced so they were starting to
move closer to current standards.
Though I prefer 28-30mm I'm not very picky about scale so I still pick
up some of the West End Games minis when I get the chance. Any that
are way under scale can be modified into Sullustians. I wish I could
find more of the Viper Probe droid minis from the Encounter on Hoth blister.
It is a very fine miniature and one of my favorite Star Wars minis.
Below are some of my West End Games minis.
